Much like Marillion in 1985, this was the first Metallica album I bought on the day of release having discovered the band and Thrash Metal in general via the awesome Ride The Lightning LP.
I was lucky enough to see Metallica live on this tour. It was at Hammersmith Odeon and only about three days before Cliff Burton died in a coach crash. Finding out Cliff had passed away was my John Lennon moment. A really heartbreaking shock that floored me at the time. I don't think Metallica were ever quite the same again.
Released: March 1986
Label: Elektra
Producer: Metallica & Flemming Rasmussen
Side 1
1. "Battery" (Hetfield, Lars Ulrich)
2. "Master of Puppets" (Hetfield, Cliff Burton, Kirk Hammett, Ulrich)
3. "The Thing That Should Not Be" (Hetfield, Hammett, Ulrich)
4. "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" (Hetfield, Hammett, Ulrich)
Side 2
5. "Disposable Heroes" (Hetfield, Hammett, Ulrich)
6. "Leper Messiah" (Hetfield, Ulrich)
7. "Orion" (Hetfield, Burton, Ulrich)
8. "Damage, Inc." (Hetfield, Burton, Hammett, Ulrich)
(All lyrics written by James Hetfield)
